Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium
Tizi Ouzou, Algeria
The new arena in Tizi Ouzou carries the name Hocine Aït Ahmed, though few recognise it as the replacement for the club's old ground. The concrete terraces visible in the unfinished stands belong to a project that spanned fourteen years before the roof closed over.
The roof itself dominates the skyline, a continuous green and white shell that covers every seat. In the evening, the floodlights cut through the darkness from behind that canopy. The pitch sits lower than the surrounding road, tucked into the Boukhalfa district near the western bypass. Natural grass covers the playing area, ready for use.
The first test came during a match against MC Alger. The incident cast a shadow over the opening months. JS Kabylie moved in after their old ground, the Stade du 1er-Novembre-1954, became too small. The old surface was artificial; the new one is natural.
The capacity sits just under 51,000, a number that will matter when the Algeria national team uses the ground for international fixtures. The official website remains that of the club, not the stadium itself.
