Rugby came first at Home Park . Devonport Albion and Plymouth Rugby used the ground through the 1890s, and it was only from 1901 that Argyle Athletic Club began playing here.
In 1969–70 it held 40,000. The record crowd, 43,596, came on 10 October 1936.
What stands today is the result of that unfinished job. The first phase of the Grandstand rebuild finished in 2018 and fixed capacity at 17,900, of which 17,000 are actually sold for matches.
The pitch is a hybrid surface, SIS Grass Hybrid, laid during the recent reconstruction.
