Huanglong Stadium
Hangzhou, China
Formerly: Hangzhou Dragon Stadium
The ground has been through a long refit. The work for the 2022 Asian Games lasted from 2019 to 2021, but the number of seats stayed the same. The renovation focused on technology rather than capacity. The pitch is a hybrid system where natural grass has been reinforced with synthetic microfibres. The root zone sits about 18 centimetres underground, a setup similar to the pitches at Barcelona and Manchester United. There is no under-soil heating.
Zhejiang Professional play here, though the club used to be called Hangzhou Greentown. The stadium is part of the larger Huanglong Sports Center complex, which includes a swimming and diving hall designed by CSADI. The main stadium building itself has no single architect listed in the records. The venue hosted matches during the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, when the ground was sometimes known in English as the Hangzhou Dragon Stadium. That name was a translation variant used by FIFA, not a sponsorship deal. The official English name remains the Huanglong Sports Center Stadium.
The ground sits in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It has no official standalone website of its own.
