Independence Ground sits on Triq Sarria in Floriana. Accounts of when it opened disagree by several years — some trace it to a cricket pitch laid out in 1890, others to a football ground consecrated in 1894 in the presence of Queen Alexandra — so no single date is settled here.
What is certain is its function: it is the home of Floriana FC . At 3,000 capacity, it is closer in size to a training venue than to Malta's national stadium, and the pitch itself is artificial turf.
There is no record of a major rebuild or expansion in its history.
