The ground sits just off the main road at ul. Tsar Boris III 155. It opened on July 20, 1952, after work began in 1950. The first name given to it was Stadion Petar Esov, in honour of the Bulgarian revolutionary and politician. In the 1990s the club took a different name, Stadion Iskar, after the river that cuts through the valley.

The pitch is natural grass.

The venue is owned by the Ministry of Physical Education and Sport of Bulgaria and is operated by PFC Rilski Sportist Samokov. The capacity is approximately 7,000 spectators, with some sources specifying 6,800.

The stadium has weathered the storm of the past decades.
