Stadium
Jan Louwers Stadion
Formerly: Gemeentelijk Sportpark
The Jan Louwers Stadion carries the name of the club's own past. It opened as the Gemeentelijk Sportpark, a municipal ground built as a job-creation scheme in the depths of the 1930s, and only later took the name of Jan Louwers, a club legend honoured in 1994.
Age shows in the numbers as much as anywhere. Through the 1970s the ground held 18,000 people, back when a cinder running track still separated the pitch from the stands and fans could pack in standing. The track is gone now, along with the standing terraces, and what's left holds 4,200.
The pitch remains natural grass. It has stayed, through the renaming and the rebuilding, the home ground of FC Eindhoven.
