Stadium
Jânio Moraes
Formerly: Laranjão, Estádio Laranjão
The ground on Avenida Governador Roberto Silveira answers to two names. Formally it is Jânio Moraes ; around Nova Iguaçu it is Laranjão , and that is the name that turns up in conversation long before the official one does.
What sets it apart from the larger grounds of the state is the arithmetic of the place. Nova Iguaçu Futebol Clube owns the ground outright and plays there, which means the club is not a tenant negotiating dates with anyone.
The pitch is natural grass, 105 by 68 metres. The club does have artificial turf, but it stays at the training centre; the match pitch has never been converted.
The ground opened in 2009, and one of the changes that followed came with the floodlights.
