Jonava Central Stadium
Jonava's football ground carries the split most Lithuanian district towns can't afford.
The current building dates to the Soviet period — a central stadium replacing the older Neries ground in 1984, after which Neries was handed over to children's and junior football. Jonava kept that arrangement into independence, and it shows in how the site is laid out today, with the newer arena still the town's one senior venue and the old one still doing the youth work it was reassigned decades ago.
What changed the ground's character was the 2021 reconstruction. At a cost of 5.6 million euros, the works reopened on 10 June 2021. It followed an earlier round of post-independence renovation between 2008 and 2010, so the stadium has effectively been rebuilt twice since Lithuania left Soviet administration.
FK Jonava plays here, a club whose own name changed thirteen times through the Soviet era while the ground itself never carried anything but the plain title of Central Stadium — one constant in a history where almost everything else around it was renamed.
