Kauno Žalgiris FA Stadium

The 500-seat main stand at Neries krantinė 7B arrived last, in 2008, and with it the ground finally cleared UEFA's one-star category.

The land came to the Lithuanian Football Federation on a 99-year lease, and building started at the end of 1999 — funded not by a club or a city but by UEFA's HatTrick and FIFA's Goal programmes. The indoor hall opened first, in 2001. The residential block followed between 2005 and 2007. Only once the accommodation was standing did the site become what it was built to be: on 12 February 2007 the National Football Academy was founded here, with UEFA president Michel Platini present.

That sequence explains the shape of the place. It is a training centre with a stand attached, not a stadium with pitches around it — artificial turf, a hall, beds for players who stay. The names it has carried say the same thing: Kauno futbolo mokyklos stadionas , NFA stadionas , LFF Kauno treniruočių centras .

Competitive football still reaches it. A Lyga, First League and Lithuanian Cup ties have been played here; FC Stumbras used it until 2019, and Be1 NFA before that. Darius and S. Girėnas Stadium, and this remains the place the club falls back on.
