The stadium sits on the station street in the central district of the city. It serves as the home ground for Kırklarelispor, a club that competes in the Nesine 2. Lig Kırmızı Grup, the third tier of Turkish football. The club has also participated in the Ziraat Türkiye Kupası, facing top-tier sides like Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe. The playing field is covered in artificial turf, a surface confirmed by local media reports describing it as 'sentetik çim'.

While the exact year of original construction is not definitively found in accessible sources, the stadium was built in the 1940s during the Second World War. It was originally named Kırklareli Stadyumu and was renamed in 1976 following a proposal by the late Nazif Karacam to honour Atatürk. The venue underwent a major renovation and reopened in 2010, a date evidenced by a video titled 'Kırklareli Atatürk Stadyumu 23 Nisan 2010'.

The current seating capacity is 3,750 spectators, all of whom are seated. This figure is confirmed by multiple sources, including the Turkish Wikipedia, TripAdvisor, and Turkipedia. Older sources mention a capacity of 4,000 or 1,750, but 3,750 is the most consistent current figure. The attendance record is unclear, though a club blog post cites April 24, 2011, as the date of highest interest, during a third-division match against Afyonkarahisarspor, when almost no empty space was left.

Notable events held at the stadium include regular league matches and a concert on August 2, 2026, as part of the 24th Munzur Culture and Nature Festival. The venue also hosts official ceremonies for 19 May Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day, and a photo exhibition titled 'Birds from Kırklareli Nature' during the Kakava Festival.
