LEAG Energie Stadion

The only DFV-Supercup ever played was decided here, on 5 August 1989: BFC Dynamo beat Dynamo Dresden 4-1 in front of 22,347 spectators.

It was Städtisches Stadion Cottbus until 1950, then Stadion der Freundschaft for the next seven decades, and only in December 2023 did it take the name of the energy company LEAG, under a deal that runs to 2026.

Terracing rebuilt between 1983 and 1985 lifted capacity from 15,000 to 18,000; a new main stand followed in August 1988. Preparation for 2. Bundesliga football brought the work of 1997-98 — floodlighting at 1,800 lux, video surveillance, a telescopic tunnel — in the same period the club, then in the third tier, reached the DFB-Pokal final and lost it 0-1 to Stuttgart. A two-tier covered Osttribüne of 7,310 seats went up in 2003-04, and between 2007 and 2009 the north and south stands were rebuilt on steel frames and roofed, closing the last open curves. Capacity has since settled at 22,528, of which 10,949 are seats under cover; the remainder still stand in the open, though each rebuild has shifted the balance towards seating.

Further modernisation is planned for 2025-26 — lighting, roofing over the corners, media facilities — costed at around €2.6m and tied to the licence for 2. Bundesliga.
