LF Arena
Before there was an LF Arena there was Kvarnvallen, opened on the same ground in 1939. The site has kept working since: not out by a ring road, but in the middle of Piteå, inside the cluster of sports facilities locals call the arenaområdet, on Hembygdsvägen.
What arrived in 1987 was a different thing under the old name — a rebuilt ground with an artificial pitch. Piteå sits far enough up the Swedish coast that a grass surface would surrender months of the year.
The current name is younger than the arena by two decades. Länsförsäkringar put its name to the ground in 2007, and LF Arena is what appears on team sheets and booking pages now, though the address and the ground itself did not move.
The main tenant is Piteå IF.
So the place carries three layers at one address: a 1939 ground, a 1987 rebuild, and a sponsor's name added in 2007.
