Loftus Road
The ground came into use in 1904. The first match, on 11 October 1904, belonged to Shepherd's Bush, an amateur side that broke up during the First World War. Queens Park Rangers arrived in 1917 and stayed.
The club went back to grass, and since 2023 the surface has been GrassMaster hybrid turf.
The rebuilding came in stages rather than in one go. A covered stand for 6,000 went up in 1938 at a cost of £7,000. Between 1968 and 1981 the stands were reworked in turn — the South Africa Road stand alone came to £150,000. The terraces went in 1994, converted to seats after the Taylor Report, and in 2022 the club put in 1,000 rail seats.
The attendance record stands at 35,353, set against Leeds United on 27 April 1974, before the seats. Since the conversion the high mark is 19,002, for a match with Manchester City on 6 November 1999, against a present capacity of 18,439. From 2019 to 2022 the ground carried the name Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium .
