Löhrenacker

The football pitch at Löhrenacker is not the busiest thing on the site. The hall next to it is. Mehrzweckhalle Löhrenacker , built in 1984 and rebuilt across 2016 and 2017, is where Аэш gets its national fixtures: Sm'Aesch Pfeffingen , the women's volleyball club, plays top-flight Swiss matches there, and European ties have been staged under the same roof. In May 2010 the hall was given over to a rock concert instead, when Lovebugs played on the 29th.

The pitch itself carries a smaller load. FC Aesch are the home side, and their level — 2. Liga Nordwestschweiz — sits a long way below what the volleyball club brings through the gates a few metres away. It means the ground and the hall draw two quite different crowds on a given weekend.

The surface is artificial. That much comes out of the 2011 reconstruction work, and it settles what the pitch has been since: no reseeding, no closed weeks in midwinter, and none of the seasonal excuses that go with grass at this level.

The address, Landskronstrasse 41, puts the whole complex on the edge of the village rather than at its centre. A thousand people fit around the pitch.
