Lydstep Park

The ground in Gabalfa carries two names at once. On the sponsor's paperwork it is the Orange Llama Stadium; to everyone else it stays Lydstep Park, off Llanidloes Road in the north of Cardiff.

The football arrived after an amalgamation rather than a building project. Cardiff Draconians merged with Gabalfa F.C. in 1984 and moved in for the 1984–85 season; what stood there before, and who put it up, is not recorded. Lydstep Park has never staged a Wales international or a cup final, and it has never had to. It is the home of the Draconians and their reserve side, and nothing else.

Capacity runs to a thousand, but the number that matters more is the seated one. Work carried out after the 2024/25 season added new stands and took seating past 250.

The playing surface is grass, and the club's own accounts of its upkeep read like a groundsman's diary: reseeding, levelling the worn patches. No record exists of a best attendance, no pitch dimensions, no drainage specification. What Lydstep Park has instead is continuity — the same club, the same corner of Gabalfa, since the mid-eighties.
