Maes Tegid

The name is Welsh — Maes Tegid, the field of Tegid — and it sits on Castle Street in Bala, in Gwynedd, where Bala Town have played since the 1950s.

Bala Town reached the Welsh Cup final in 2010 and lost 3-2 to Bangor City; they won the trophy in 2017, beating The New Saints 2-1. Neither of those matches was played here, and neither were the club's European ties. UEFA's infrastructure requirements sent them to Llanelli, to Bangor, to Belle Vue in Rhyl.

It does get the domestic rounds. Welsh Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals have been staged at Maes Tegid, along with Nathaniel MG Cup ties, on top of the league fixtures.

The record crowd tells you the scale of the place: 938, on 14 August 2009, for a Welsh Premier League match against Bangor City. Of the capacity, 504 are seats.

In September 2016 the pitch was replaced with a 3G synthetic surface. The ground has carried the one name throughout, with no rebranding and no concerts or non-sporting events on its record.
