The MDCC-Arena presents a distinct profile along the horizon, defined by a steel roof structure that rises in sharp, triangular peaks above the concrete stands.

The stadium’s identity has shifted with the sponsorship market. It opened as Stadion Magdeburg before becoming the MDCC-Arena, a name it held for fifteen years, until the current Avnet Arena branding took effect in 2024. The structure itself is functional. The capacity has fluctuated over time. An extension project completed in January 2020 increased the official figure to 30,098, comprising seated and standing areas. The pitch, covered in natural grass, was entirely replaced with new sod in February 2024 to ensure the playing surface meets current standards.

The venue has hosted more than just domestic football. It welcomed the final of the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where Germany secured a victory over the Netherlands. A German Bowl match was also played here in 2011. Although Magdeburg put forward a bid, the stadium did not host any matches during the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. The grounds are also used for local culture, hosting the annual "MDCC-Weihnachtssingen" Christmas Singing event. The highest official attendance at the site was recorded on August 3, 2025, during a second division match against Eintracht Braunschweig, drawing 28,780 spectators. The stadium sits at Heinz-Krügel-Platz 1.
