Mehtimäen tekonurmi

The pitch at Mehtimäenaukio 2 is not a stadium standing on its own. It sits inside Mehtimäen urheilupuisto, the sports park in the Mehtimäki district of Joensuu, alongside the other venues that share the site — so a match here happens in the middle of a working complex rather than at a destination built for one team.

The surface explains most of what the ground is for. It is a sand-filled synthetic pitch, described locally as lyhytnukkainen hiekkatekonurmi — short-pile sand artificial turf. That specification matters in eastern Finland, where the natural-grass season is short. The pitch went into service in the summer of 2013, added to a park that already had its facilities in place.

The main tenant is JIPPO — Joensuun Iloiset Peli-Pojat — which uses the ground as its home pitch. It is not the club's alone, though. AFC Keltik plays matches here as well, along with other local sides, and the field is also given over to American football. That mix is closer to how the venue actually works than any single fixture list: a shared municipal pitch, booked across codes.

The ground is known by a second name, Mehtimäen jalkapallostadion, which appears where it is treated as a football venue in its own right rather than as one field among several in the park. Both names point to the same address.
