The ground in Bad Cannstatt sits at the top of a hill, with the Mercedesstraße 87 address leading up to it.

The name on the building has changed more times than a club kit, but the roof you see now is the one that defines it. The 2004–2005 rebuild for the 2006 FIFA World Cup closed the gaps and put the roof over every seat. The main stand came back with a new look, and five matches played here during UEFA Euro 2024 were not just a trip for fans but a reason for the club to stay in the city. The capacity is 60,058 for domestic league matches, though the number drops for international fixtures when UEFA regulations tighten the safety requirements.

It is the home of VfB Stuttgart, and the track means you have to walk past it to get to the seats. The atmosphere is not quiet, but the distance from the pitch makes the sound roll differently. The away end never stopped during the Euro games, even when the table goes out of the window in these games. The pitch is natural grass, and it cuts up badly in heavy rain, which is when the captain dragged them through it. The ground has seen everything from the first post-war international to the biggest concerts. The wheels came off in some of those early years, but the stadium is back in full training now.
