Messendorf Trainingszentrum

The pitch at Messendorf carries a man's name. **Platz 3**, the main ground of SK Sturm Graz's training complex on Sternäckerweg, is also the Platz für Gernot Jurtin, and it holds 1,500 people. The first team does not play at Messendorf; it plays at the Merkur Arena, across the city.

The ground existed from 1990, but the version standing today was reopened in June 2010 after a rebuild costing 4.8 million euro. The money arrived from three directions: 1.5 million from the City of Graz, 1.5 million from the State of Styria, and 1.8 million from the club itself — much of it the fee Sturm received for Sebastian Prödl.

Since then the complex has become the working home of SK Sturm Graz II in the 2. Liga and of SK Sturm Graz Frauen in the ÖFB-Frauenliga, with the AKA Steiermark academy using it as well. The women's side opened the 2021 Planet Pure Frauen-Bundesliga season here against FK Austria Wien on 29 August, with ORF Sport+ taking the match live.

Alongside the grass main pitch sits **Platz 4**, artificial turf, capacity 1,000. Friendlies have drawn crowds of around 500, as when SV Ried visited in 2018.
