Mestský štadión Šamorín

The pitch on Pomlejská has been in use since 1931. What stands around the grass — the stands — went up in the 1960s.

The address itself is loose. The street is recorded, the postcode is recorded, but no house number attaches to it — which tells you something about how the ground sits in the town rather than on a numbered plot along it. The name has been loose too. For years it was known as Štadión Помле, after the district, and that older form still turns up more readily in some places than the municipal one.

There is no separate stadium office, no dedicated site, no independent administration to speak to. Day to day the ground is run by ФК ШТК 1914 Шаморин, whose own web presence doubles as the stadium's — the club is the ground's front door in every practical sense, and has been left to get on with it.

The surface is natural grass, kept as such rather than converted, which for a ground of this size and vintage is a choice about maintenance as much as playing quality. Small clubs on smaller budgets have often gone the other way; here the turf has stayed.
