The ground replaced the old Bazaly works, which was demolished to make way for this rebuild. FC Baník Ostrava moved here for the 2015/2016 season. The reconstruction finished in 2015, overseen by Hutní projekt Ostrava and Projekstudio, with Metrostav/Hochtief CZ as the contractor. The capacity for seated spectators is 15,123.

The venue also hosts athletics. It has been the home of the Golden Spike Ostrava meeting since 1961. The address is Závodní 2891/86, 703 00 Ostrava-Vítkovice.
