Miðgarður
Garðabær, Iceland
Miðgarður is the only indoor football stadium in Garðabær.
The facility became operational in February 2022, with the official opening taking place on April 30, 2022, a date confirmed by RÚV. The naming convention was decided through a public competition in autumn 2021, selecting a term from Norse mythology to represent 'the center of the world'. The structure covers approximately 18,200 m², with the indoor pitch measuring 80×120 meters. It serves primarily as a training base for UMF Stjarnan’s youth academy and hosts matches for a combined team of Stjarnan/KFG/Álftanes.
The seating capacity is 800 spectators. While some sources cite 1,500, that figure appears to be an error, possibly conflating the seating with the 1,500 m² of unallocated floor space. The ground is equipped with floodlights for the outdoor pitch area, though the main action occurs on the artificial turf surface inside the hall. Architectural design was handled by ASK Architects, with engineering by Verkís and construction by IAV over a four-year period from 2019 to 2022. It is a functional space. There are no former names recorded for the venue, as it has never existed under another title.
