Miejski Stadion Pitkarski Rakow

The venue sits in the Raków district of Częstochowa. It was dug out of the earth in the early 1950s and handed over to the city on 22 July 1955, long before the club that lives there took its current name. For decades it carried a municipal title, then a sponsor’s name, then the sponsor’s name was dropped, but the ground stayed.

The surface is natural grass, but the heating system buried beneath it was laid between 2020 and 2021. The stands have changed shape several times. They held eight thousand people when the stadium opened, then shrank to a few thousand as safety rules tightened, then grew again after a modernisation finished in 2021. Today the capacity is 5,500 all-seater seats.

Raków Częstochowa plays its domestic league matches here, but European nights are moved to Sosnowiec or Katowice. Inside the walls the club has hosted Polish Cup semi-finals, beating Legia Warszawa in 2022 and losing to Lechia Gdańsk three years earlier. The last time the stadium filled to the brim was on 5 October 1958, when 10,000 people watched a third-division playoff win against BBTS Włókniarz Bielsko-Biała. Since then the record has not been broken.

The address is ul. Bolesława Limanowskiego 83. The club’s website points visitors to that line for directions. There is no stadium site of its own; the city’s sports centre handles the paperwork. The ground is still called Miejski Stadion Piłkarski Raków, though fans sometimes shorten it to Limanówka. It is a place where the past sits under the new roof.
