National Stadium (Independence Park)
Kingston, Jamaica
The National Stadium in Kingston sits within the Independence Park complex. It opened in 1962, built for the Central American and Caribbean Games, and was designed by Wilson Chong.
Jamaica's national team plays here for Fifa World Cup qualifiers and Concacaf Nations League matches. The venue also hosts finals for the Jamaica Premier League, but no single club calls it home. A record of 35,246 was set on 2 March 1997 for a World Cup qualifier against the United States; the match ended 0–0. The capacity is 35,000, though some sources list 30,000 depending on how the seating is configured. The official address is Arthur Wint Drive, Independence Park, Kingston 5.
The stadium was the site of the 1978 One Love Peace Concert, where Bob Marley & The Wailers performed for an audience of approximately 32,000. It hosted group matches during the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup, though the final was played in the USA. The venue is also a training facility for track and field athletes, hosting events such as the Jamaica International Invitational and the Carifta Games.
