Obolon-Arena

The ground exists because Kyiv's Obolon brewing corporation wanted a proper home for its district club and bought out an old school stadium to build one. The first ball was kicked on the still-unfinished pitch in October 2002, though it took until 2004 for the first team to settle into regular fixtures there.

A slow rebuild followed: work on a fully covered north stand began in December 2006 and wasn't finished until the summer of 2008, with the space underneath it — press centre, fan café, corporate shop, gym — ready a year after that. The venue took its current name, Obolon-Arena, in July 2009.

Its record crowd came in April 2010, when Obolon beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in front of 5,300 people. UEFA later listed it among the training bases for Euro 2012.

Since 2014, the arena has done double duty. With Luhansk under occupation, Zorya used Obolon-Arena as a stand-in home ground for their Premier League and Europa League fixtures. It has also hosted Ukraine's youth side, including a Euro 2019 qualifier against England, and the women's national team, who played Euro 2022 qualifiers against Greece and Ireland here in 2020.
