Oester Hus Arena

Sandnes, Norway

On the map sandnesulf.no

The sand in Sandnes does not just stay on the beach. It finds its way onto the pitch at Øster Hus Arena. The ground sits within the Sandnes Idrettspark complex. This venue replaced the historic Sandnes Stadion, which had stood since 1927.

Built between 2018 and 2020, the stadium opened its doors in early 2020, though the official festivities were delayed until September 2021. The structure itself is clean, designed by Plank Arkitekter, and built to meet the strict infrastructure criteria of the Norwegian Football Federation.

The surface is artificial turf, a GreenFields MX Elite pitch that differs sharply from the natural grass of the old ground.

But the football remains the anchor. On May 16, 2024, the crowd reached 4,432 for a match against Bryne FK, a record that surpassed the previous mark set against Brann. The club stays, the ground holds, and the sand remains.
