Okzhetpes Stadium
The ground on Abay Street spent its first half-century under a different name. Built by the Kokshetau instrument-making plant, it opened as Torpedo and kept that name — in some records as AMR Torpeda — until 2004, when the rebuild that gave it the name it carries now also took away more than half of it. The north and south stands were reworked, the south gained a roof, and the capacity fell from 10,000 to 4,500.
What has changed most often since is the pitch itself. In 2009 a new natural surface was laid ahead of the Europa League tie with Zimbru of Moldova. That grass lasted until 2017, when it was pulled up entirely for the Premier League season. Work began in June and the artificial surface, a latest-generation Quality Pro system, was down by August.
The address has never moved. Almost everything else about the place has.
