Orangetheory Stadium

Christchurch, New Zealand

Formerly: Rugby League Park, Christchurch Stadium, AMI Stadium, Apollo Projects Stadium

Orangetheory Stadium opened in 2012 as a scaffold truss system built with seating brought in from Eden Park after the earthquakes, so it was never meant to stay, and yet it remained for over a decade.

It hosted the Crusaders and Canterbury for years, and the New Zealand Warriors when they needed a home, and the All Blacks when they were looking for somewhere to play away from home.

The attendance record sits at 18,000, set during an NRL match, though the standard capacity was always 17,104. The difference between the two numbers is the temporary seats that appeared when the city wanted to make a bigger deal out of something.

The venue closed in April 2026 when the permanent One NZ Stadium opened, and it remains standing now, empty, with the Christchurch City Council planning to take it down and rezone the land for something else.
