For three decades this ground answered to baseball. The Houston Astros ran their spring training here from 1985 until 2016, and the diamond also housed a run of minor-league sides — the Osceola Astros, the Kissimmee Cobras, the Florida Fire Frogs — before the Atlantic Sun Conference brought its championship series here in 1998 and 1999, won first by Florida International, then by Jacksonville.

What sets Osceola County Stadium apart from the other venues at Osceola Heritage Park is what happened next: between May 2019 and January 2020 the old baseball ground was rebuilt as a football pitch, a conversion. Orlando City B took up residence in 2020, with a gap the following year.

The stadium's history runs beyond sport results. Willie Nelson played here in 2005, Stevie Wonder in 2016, and the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring has used the site to train baseball officials.
