Ostseestadion

The name on the ground now is the one it started with. Between 2007 and 2015 it stood as the DKB-Arena , after Deutsche Kreditbank bought the naming rights; in May 2015 the club terminated the sponsorship contract and the older name, Ostseestadion , came back.

What carries that name is not, however, the ground that opened on 27 June 1954. That first stadium held 17,000, was enlarged to 25,500 in 1991, and was then taken down entirely across 2000 and 2001. The arena built in its place on the same site was opened on 4 August 2001.

Roughly 25,000 of those places are seats and the remainder terracing, so when regulations require an all-seater ground for an international fixture, the standing sections are converted and the ground takes 25,000.

Underneath, the pitch has stayed natural grass throughout, warmed by undersoil heating. That system was replaced in 2022 and 2023 with a more energy-efficient one; the surface above it was not altered.
