Stadium
PalaAkradina
Syracuse, Italy
The arena stands within the Cittadella dello Sport complex, a cluster of facilities dedicated to sport in Siracusa.
The building opened in 2010. Its arrival was not straightforward, as the project faced various delays before finally welcoming teams. It was conceived by Concetto Lo Bello, a former football referee from the city who found success on the international stage. The structure honours a different figure: Pino Corso. A lawyer and professor of Law, Corso was a significant presence in Syracuse sports until his death in 2015.
Inside, the space is compact. The seating holds only 300 spectators. The floor is covered for handball and basketball, and sometimes volleyball. The Albatro Siracusa handball team moved here from a much larger venue, PalaLo Bello, which could seat 2,700 people.
The Arena is managed by the local council, the Comune di Siracusa. There is no separate website for the venue itself; information comes from the clubs that play there.
Concetto Lo Bello initiated the project, while the venue also pays tribute to Pino Corso.
