The Palais des Sports de Beaulieu sits on the Île de Nantes. The place stands between water and wind, and while the roof covers the stands.

When the club rebranded the main hall as the H Arena in March 2019, they attached a name to the space without adding a corporate sponsor. The change was internal. The capacity sits at 5,902 now, a number that grew from the 4,700 available when the doors first opened in 1973. Between 2016 and 2018, the structure received a new roof and new flooring, replacing the old systems to stop water from leaking through the ceiling. The original architects, Georges Evano and Jean-Luc Pellerin, designed the volumes that hold up the weight of the crowd today.

The floor is natural wood parquet, not synthetic, and it has seen four major finals over the decades. It hosted the 1973–74 FIBA European Champions Cup final, where Real Madrid faced Ignis Varese, and the 1991–92 European Cup final here. The crowd packs the stands tight, and the players switched off at a set piece when the pressure mounted in the final quarters.

The building is not a temple, nor is it a relic. It is a functional space that survived the ZUP development plans of the sixties. The crowd stays until the tie slips or the result is decided.
