Pars Shiraz Stadium
Formerly: Shiraz Olympic Stadium
Pars Shiraz did not exist as a going concern for most of the years its foundations had been in the ground. Work on the site began in the late 1990s under the name Mianrood, after the district on the northern edge of the city, and it took until 20 April 2017 for the stadium to be handed over — a gap long enough that a generation of Shiraz supporters grew up watching their clubs play elsewhere while the shell waited.
The minister of sport, Masoud Soltanifar, opened it under the name Shiraz Olympic Stadium, a label that has since given way in everyday use to Pars Shiraz. The site sits on Shahadaye Varzeshkar boulevard, in the same Mianrood district that gave the ground its working name for two decades, and the pitch is laid to natural grass.
