PayPal Park
The Earthquakes' owners paid for this ground themselves. Around $100 million came from the ownership group led by Lewis Wolff, with no public money in it. It opened as Avaya Stadium in 2015 and has carried the PayPal name since 2021.
The opening ran to a pattern the club knew well: a February friendly against Los Angeles Galaxy to break the ground in, then the first competitive fixture a month later against Chicago Fire .
Two things have widened its reach lately. And the international fixtures have started arriving: group-stage matches of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup , including the United States against Trinidad and Tobago in June, with early-round matches of the 2028 Olympic tournament already scheduled here.
Between those, the ground works. Renovations ran through 2022 and 2023. San Jose's city council has cleared up to fifteen concerts a year, and December 2024 brought Enchant Christmas onto the site. In May 2025 Lionel Messi came with Inter Miami and left with a 3-3 draw.
