Penny Cars Stadium

The debts run up building this stadium, close to £3 million , put the original Airdrieonians F.C. out of business in 2002. The club that plays here now carries the same history back to 1878.

The record attendance at this ground, 9,612 , came for a Scottish Challenge Cup final between Hamilton Academical and St Mirren in November 2005. Queen's Park played their home games here for a season while Hampden was rebuilt for 2013–14; Glasgow City and, later, Celtic's and Motherwell's women's sides used it for the best part of a decade between them; European ties for clubs whose own grounds failed UEFA's requirements ended up here too.
