Planet Group Arena

The name has never quite settled here. When the ground rose on the southern edge of Ghent in July 2013, supporters had already taken to calling it Arteveldestadion, after the medieval Flemish statesman — a name that stuck on the terraces but never made it onto a contract. The builder, Ghelamco, held the naming rights instead, and Ghelamco Arena carried the stadium through a decade of K.A.A. Gent fixtures. When that sponsorship lapsed in 2023, the club bridged the gap with the plain KAA Gent Arena for a season, before Planet Group signed on in April 2024 and put its name on the front of the building.

The stadium replaced Jules Ottenstadion, the club's home since 1920, and sits where the E17 and E40 motorways meet on the edge of the city, close enough to the Ghent university hospital to be a landmark for anyone giving directions there. The pitch is a hybrid of natural and reinforced grass, built to take the wear of both the first team and Jong KAA Gent, the reserve side that plays its own matches on the same surface.

Capacity has held at just over twenty thousand through all three sponsorship names. The building itself has not changed since it opened; only the lettering above the entrance has moved on, one contract at a time.
