Portoval

Portoval carries a name that once belonged to something else entirely. Built in 1958, it opened as Stadion bratstva in enotnosti, the Stadium of Brotherhood and Unity. When Slovenia went its own way, the ground took its current name from a sponsor instead.

It sits in Novo mesto's Dolenjska region as the home of NK Krka, and the setup is modest by design: a single concrete stand holding 500 seated spectators, with another thousand watching from a grass bank behind it. At 1,500 capacity it has never needed to be anything more.

Two pitches share the site — the main natural grass surface for first-team football, and an artificial pitch alongside it where the women's side, ŽNK Krka, plays its home matches. The stadium's highest-profile night arguably came in 2001, when a Slovenian Cup semi-final replay against NK Hit Gorica drew around 700 people through the gates, a rare crowd close to capacity. It also had a brief run in the country's top flight during the 1993–94 season, before Krka settled into the lower divisions the ground has mostly hosted since.

Portoval's next assignment has nothing to do with football at all: the venue is due to host the Balkan U18 Athletics Championships in 2026, alongside a youth athletics meeting.
