Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium stands as a landmark in Jeddah. The venue, originally constructed in 1970, has undergone significant transformation to accommodate the city’s footballing ambitions. Visible in the current structure is a sweeping roof that provides shade for the spectators.

The stadium’s history is marked by several name changes, reflecting its evolving role within the community. Initially known as the Youth Welfare Stadium, it was renamed in 2001 to honour Prince Abdullah al-Faisal, a former president of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare. However, in November 2023, the Saudi Ministry of Sport officially changed the name again to Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Sports City.

Al-Ahli Saudi FC and Al-Ittihad FC call this ground home. The capacity, currently at 27,000, was reduced in 2009 following the removal of terraced standing areas to comply with all-seater safety regulations. This adjustment was reversed after a major renovation project that lasted from 2012 to 2021.

The playing surface, a natural grass pitch, underwent a complete overhaul in 2021 to meet FIFA and AFC standards. Notably, the attendance record of 27,000 was set on February 3, 2003, during the UAFA Club Cup Final between Al-Ahli and Club Africain, highlighting the venue’s significance in Saudi football history.
