Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Stadium

The Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Stadium does not sit alone in the desert heat; it is nested inside the larger Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Sports City complex. Located on the Dhahran-Jubail Highway, the ground serves as a hub for local competition rather than a destination for international travel.

Al-Khaleej FC call this venue home for many of their fixtures, particularly when their primary stadium is unavailable. Local rivals such as Al-Taraji Club and Modhar FC also utilise the facility. The atmosphere here is not built on record crowds or global fame; it is built on the routine of local clubs striving for promotion or stability in the lower divisions.

There is a quiet uncertainty surrounding the exact moment the doors first opened. One source points to 1999, while another suggests 1996. The natural grass surface has seen countless games, regardless of which year the first ball was kicked. The capacity hovers around 12,000, a figure that feels appropriate for a venue where the stand often feels closer to the action than in larger arenas.

The stadium has never undergone a dramatic transformation or a name change that would rewrite its history. It simply exists as a working ground in the Qatif Governorate. While the Saudi Handball Super Cup final was hosted here recently, the primary heartbeat of the place is football. The highway outside provides constant noise, but inside, the focus remains on the teams playing out their seasons under the open sky.
