Raatti Stadion
Oulu, Finland
Raatti Stadion is a modern structure. The design is functional rather than ornamental. The pitch sits at the centre of a red athletics track, its surface green even when the surrounding stands are quiet.
The ground sits within the Koskikeskus neighbourhood. It was rebuilt after the original 1953 structure was demolished, reopening in June 2011. The new stadium held fewer seats than before — 4,392 compared to the old capacity — but did not offer better sightlines from the covered main stand and the open sun stand.
AC Oulu has played here since the rebuild, moving from their previous home when the new facilities became available. The club shares the venue with athletics events, and the track around the pitch is used regularly for training and competitions.
The stadium has hosted international matches, including UEFA Europa League qualifiers for RoPS and Vaasan PS, and concerts. Attendance records from the old stadium included a 14,000 crowd for a European Cup tie against Liverpool in 1980, but those figures belong to a different era. Today the ground operates without a sponsor name, remaining Raatti Stadion in all contexts.
