Rafael Bolaños Stadium

Edgar Artavia, a former player at Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, owned the land at San Antonio and put up most of the money for the project — it came from one family rather than from the canton — and he named the stadium after his father, Rafael Bolaños. That name has stood ever since.

New stands went up and an artificial surface was laid, and in January 2018 the Rafael Bolaños Stadium was formally cleared for first-division fixtures. That clearance mattered less to the tenants than to clubs passing through: Municipal Grecia and Cartaginés have both played here across different seasons, at home or on neutral ground, while their own stadiums fell short on infrastructure.

A.D. Carmelita operates the stadium and hosts its Segunda División and Liga de Ascenso matches here; AD Barrio El Carmen and AD Rosario Naranjo have used it as well.

It stands inside the Wilmer López sports complex, on Calle Lagunilla in the Pacto del Jocote district, out towards the El Coyol suburb rather than in the centre of Alajuela. There is no official site for the ground, and Carmelita's own pages have not been maintained for years.
