The ground at Kjeller was built by hand. Work started in 1950, and by the time it opened on 7 July 1951 volunteers had put in some 31,000 hours; the cash cost came to 150,000 kroner. It held 6,000 then, 2,500 of them seated.

Fire took the main stand in 1967, and the replacement was finished the following year. A new east stand went up across the 1970s, the 1978 phase alone costing 2.8m kroner. The rebuild that changed the place, though, ran from 1999 to 2002 and cost between 240m and 300m kroner, part of a wider 800m-kroner scheme for the land around it. That work made Ороосен all-seat, put heating under the pitch and installed a retractable lighting system, among them Norwegian Cup semi-finals as recently as 2022 and the OKS Festival concerts.

The women's Euro of 1997 brought the Italy–Spain semi-final here, 2–1, and the under-19 Euro followed in 2002.

The stadium itself has never carried a sponsor's name, though the stands have. The west is the Ромерике Спаребанк Stand, the south is named after the newspaper Romerikes Blad, the north after Puma. That south stand is the next thing due for work, alongside housing on the surrounding site, under club plans for 2025 and 2026. Outside, the Tom Lund statue was beheaded in June 2013.
