The pitch is natural grass, a green rectangle surrounded by the noise of the city.

The ground has lived through several lives. It opened in 1935 as the Dinamo Stadium, then became the Republican Stadium before receiving the name of Vazgen Sargsyan after the former prime minister was assassinated in 1999. The renovation that year, paid for by UEFA, changed the look of the place but not its position in the town.
