Rodženi Stadium

Formerly: Stadion Vrapčići, Gradski Stadion Vrapčići

Velež do not have to explain who they are when they play in Vrapčići. The club was chased out of its old ground under Bijeli Brijeg during the 1992 fighting and built a new home on the grounds of a textile mill on the edge of Mostar — a stadium named, plainly, Rođeni, "the born ones", after the supporters who followed the club there and never left.

The name change from Stadion Vrapčići came later, once the ground had been through enough rebuilding to feel like its own place rather than a wartime stopgap. Work continued through 1999, 2006, 2008, then again in 2017–2018 and 2020, each round pushing it closer to something a top-flight club could actually use rather than something it had settled for. The floodlights installed in 2020, a Philips ArenaVision rig meeting UEFA's Category 3 standard, got their first competitive test on 8 August that year, when Velež beat crosstown rivals Zrinjski 2:0 under them. The pitch followed in 2022, swapped for a hybrid GrassMaster surface.

None of this makes Rođeni large. Capacity sits at 7,000, and the one night it filled to that mark on record was 1 June 2019, when Velež closed out the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Igman Konjic. The Bosnian U21s have used the ground too, beating Montenegro 2:0 there in October 2016 in front of a crowd well short of capacity.

There is no story here of concerts or crossover events. Rođeni does one job, for one club, on a patch of ground that was a factory field before it was anything else.
