Rolvsrud stadion

Lørenskog, Norway

Rolvsrud stadion is a working facility for Lørenskog IF, a club that has called the place home since the merger that formed it in 1948. Construction began on the site that July and the ground was opened by September 1950.

What defines the place now is the surface. The original grass was replaced by a synthetic pitch in 2002, fitted with underfloor heating to allow play through the long Norwegian winter. The main pitch was taken into temporary use in January 2022 after another round of renovation, with new heating and turf installed as part of the wider Rolvsrud Arena project. That development, managed by the municipality, includes a new main stand and clubhouse scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025.

There is no single stand that dominates the view. The north long side features a seated stand, added during the 2001–2002 upgrade that coincided with the club’s promotion to the First Division. A small sitting stand was added to the south long side in the 1980s. The capacity is 2,000 spectators, a number likely fixed when the north stand was built.

The ground hosts matches in the Norwegian Football Cup (NM Cupen) and has seen local derbies against Strømmen IF and Lillestrøm SK. The club has produced players who have gone on to international careers, but the ground itself remains a local hub.
