Rosenlundskolen
Skovlunde, Denmark
Formerly: Rosenlundskolen, Skovlunde Skole Syd, Skovlunde Skole - Syd
At Ejbyvej 47, the building known as Rosenlundskolen does not look like a place for sport. It was built in the 1960s to house children, not to host crowds. Yet inside its walls, the game is played.
When the school closed in 1991, it was not the end of the building’s use. Two decades later, in 2015, the institution was reformed. The separate departments were merged back under one roof, but the space remained distinct. While the classrooms are quiet, the hall known as Ny Hal, or the New Hall, is often full. It belongs to BBK BMS, the basketball club that has existed since 1972.
The stadium has no official seating capacity listed in any public record. The numbers are not found. The building sits in Skovlunde, a suburb that grew rapidly in the mid-twentieth century. The name Rosenlundskolen comes from an old farmstead that once stood nearby, a ghost of agriculture in a zone of housing blocks.
Outside, the ground is flat and open. Ballerup Baseball Softball Klub uses the area for training. They do not need a grandstand. They need a field. The surface type is not specified in any report. It is enough for a bat to connect with a ball. The club also has a jiu-jitsu branch that trains in the same vicinity. The town provides the space; the community fills it.
This is not a cathedral of sport. There are no legends attached to the walls. It is a school that yields its hall to adults who want to compete. It is functional. It is unpretentious. The ground does not care. It holds the sound and lets it go.
