Roskilde Idrætspark

Locals call it Ørnereden, the eagle's nest. Roskilde Idrætspark has never carried a sponsor's name — through the decades it has stayed Roskilde Idrætspark, plainly.

The ground was already standing in 1958, and it stayed largely as it was until the end of the century. In 1999 Roskilde Municipality commissioned a new grandstand from the architects Claus B. Hansen & Allan Chabert A/S. That structure set the shape the ground still has: room for 6,000, of which 512 seats sit under cover. The rest stand in whatever the weather brings.

The record crowd came on 30 October 2014, when FC København arrived for a DBU Pokalen tie and 5,342 people got in. FC Roskilde lost it 3–2, but did not concede either. The previous mark had held since 19 November 1985, when RB 1906 met Randers Freja in the 2nd Division in front of 5,037.

Football is not the only thing the ground has been used for. tv·2 played here on 5 August 1989; Kim Larsen & Kjukken in July 2004; Big Fat Snake in August 2005.

The pitch is natural grass, though the training pitches alongside it are artificial. FC Roskilde A/S owns and runs the place, and it remains a municipal sports facility, on Rådmandshaven in the middle of the town.
