Sagamihara Gion Stadium

The roof over the main stand at Sagamihara Gion Stadium was drawn to echo the large kites Sagamihara is known for. Until March 2009 the venue in Asamizo Park had no main stand at all; once it was finished, designed by the city's own design office and built by Fujiki Komuten in a joint venture with Tatsu Construction, the ground took Type 2 certification from the Japan Association of Athletics Federation.

The ground carries its present name because in March 2014 the city sold naming rights to the logistics firm Gion, at 10 million yen a year over three years. It had opened in 2007 as Sagamihara Asamizo Stadium , a municipal project begun as part of a park expansion scheme.

The pitch sits inside a 400m all-weather track. The attendance record dates from 2 November 2014, when 7,860 came for SC Sagamihara against Fukushima United in J3.

Besides SC Sagamihara, the Mitsubishi Sagamihara DynaBoars play their rugby here, and Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara have used it; FC Machida Zelvia spent 2010 as tenants. A second pitch, Sagamihara Gion Field, opened alongside in March 2014.
