Formerly: Wojewódzka Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa w Katowicach

The facility is part of the larger complex managed by MOSiR Katowice, a municipal sports centre.

Built in 1969, the venue predates the main arena and has served as the home of GKS Katowice for decades. The facility is part of the larger complex managed by MOSiR Katowice, a municipal sports centre. When the main building adopted the name Spodek in 1997, the satellite arena kept its original designation as the Provincial Arena for Entertainment and Sports in Katowice, though locals simply call it Mały Spodek — the Little Spodek.

The 2024 renovation was significant. The asbestos-cement roof was replaced with trapezoidal sheet metal, and thermal insulation was added. The renovation also included the installation of solar panels on the new roof. The capacity was adjusted during this work, settling at 1,390 seats after the expansion of the upper stands from 188 to 578 positions, which now include media and VIP areas. A new media zone and modernised monitoring room were created as part of the same project.

The playing surface is natural ice, maintained by refrigeration on a concrete pad within the climate-controlled indoor facility. The arena is located at Aleja Wojciecha Korfantego 35 in the Koszutka district. Visitors find information on the MOSiR Katowice website rather than a dedicated venue page.
